Our Parent Coaching programme is designed to follow our indirect approach and strategies to empower your child's voice through you as their parent.

Being a parent can feel overwhelming at the best of times, let alone when you feel like you've got nobody on your side while you try to get everything right for your kid. There's nothing most of us wouldn't do for our kids - however the hardest one is often looking at ourselves properly.

Our model is a safe-adult model - designed to create safety and stability to learn and grow as individuals. We try to do the same kind of thing in our Parent Coaching programmes. The focus is around how we support you as a parent, to reflect openly, honestly, and to prepare you for the flexibility needed to help your child. The aim is for you to finish your coaching programme with the skills, understanding, resources, and mindset to help your child without the need for additional support.

What is Parent Coaching

  1. Get in touch by emailing referrals@thesensesproject.co.uk or calling us on 01202 287 855.

  2. We will book an initial assessment meeting with you (the parent/s), which is typically virtual. During this meeting we'll be asking a lot of questions and getting as much information as possible.

  3. Within a week we will confirm a provisional plan with you for a 4, 8 or 12 week programme.

  4. Contract and invoice completed.

  5. Home-visit: We'll come out to you to meet with you and your child to get to know you all a bit better.

  6. The programme will run with an agreed structure combining home visits, activity sessions, and virtual sessions.

  7. The strategies can include guided reflections, role-playing strategies, access to workshops, external resources, mirroring, and independent self-reflection.

  8. We will set out targets and time-frames as we continue through the programme agreed to and reflect on each target before the final week is up.

  9. You will be left with access to the PDR (Personal Development Record) which will include any planned links and resources we've made available.
